Lime Pineapple Jello Salad

My precious Mama would always make this congealed salad, especially holidays.  We all loved it and now my family does, too.  The only difference?  I don't wait for special occasions to make and enjoy.

I noticed this looked a little thin and commented about it to hubby.  He told it may be because he ate about half of it, still in the bowl, while I was getting the boys ready for bed!  ~smile~

Dark Chocolate Coca Cola Cake From A Cake Mix

Two ingredients, well three if you add chips, nuts or marshmallows, in this moist and wonderful dark chocolate cake!  The icing, you can make as much and as thick, as you wish.
I made a lot of icing to pour over the hot cake so it ended up as a rich, very moist and almost like a pudding cake.  Gooey and decadent.  Eat it warm or cold, my preference, out of the refrigerator.  But, do, keep it in the fridge.  Grab a fork and spoon and dig in!

Chicken Stuffing Casserole

Nice for lunch or supper with a salad of choice.  I could just eat it out of the pan!  ~smile~   You can top the chicken with cheese.  Add different veggies while sauteing.  Use pork chops instead of chicken.  Add stuffing on the bottom, put meat, sauteed veggies, stuffing on top.  Double and make more.  Put the meat on top....blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blaaaahhhhhhh......as my boys would say.  ~smile~  Enjoy!

Triple Chocolate Whole Wheat Zucchini Bread

I went to Walmart the other morning, which isn't much different than most mornings, and took pictures documenting my time there.  Taking pictures along the way was so much fun and it didn't bother anyone in the least little bit...they all know us by name.  I'll share that in another post.  I ended up buying zucchini, Nestle Semi Sweet Mini Chocolate Chips, Hershey's Chocolate Syrup and more Cocoa.  This is the result of my shopping trip.  Are you thinking a trip is in order, now?

Homemade Biscuit Mix

I sometimes use packaged biscuit mix in  my recipes, don't you?  Since I have been sharing them, it has come to my attention that not all of my friends, that follow Recipes For My Boys, have access to items like Bisquick.  I shared my Cheddar Garlic Biscuits this morning on facebook and one of my friends, from the UK, commented she was all excited about making them, until she read ... biscuit mix.  That was all it took to get me in the kitchen to make my own.  I think it turned out great and so did hubby.  At least by all the biscuits he ate, I would say so.  I don't think I'll be buying the packaged biscuit mix again.

Dark Chocolate Graham Cracker Brownies

My youngest just came home from the hospital last night after staying there 3 days from an asthma attack.  The whole time there, he wanted brownies.  This morning, I made these really easy fudgy brownies for him.  I know he will be happy to share with the rest of us.  Enjoy them out of the oven while they are soft and gooey or let them cool and they are chewy outer covering and fudgy inside.  Either way, I know you will love them!  Use different flavor graham crackers, chips, dried fruit, nuts .... for a variety of new brownies.  I am thinking quite a few ways to enjoy them!

Thursday's Treasures Week 81

I hope your week has been a lovely experience for you.  Each day, week, brings so much into our lives.  Not always the best...but certainly, not the worst.  We take each day and milk the goodness out of it.  To benefit from the riches it delivers to us.  Some days are sweet, delicate cream.  Other days are whey.  Regardless the outcome...we can always take what we are given and make it into something beautiful!

May your week be the best of the best, the cream of the crops, the sun that makes the rainbow after a gentle shower.
Love and hugs!

Here are some the amazing links shared with us last week.  If you are featured, please grab my "I was featured on" button.

Homemade Sweetened Condensed Milk

I have been wanting to make a recipe that calls for sweetened condensed milk.  For some reason, I always seem to forget to buy it.  When I found the recipe again, I looked in the pantry, as if it would miraculously find it's way in there, and still no little can of sweetness.  That did it!  I recalled seeing a recipe for homemade sweetened condensed milk in an old cookbook (I even tried the powdered recipe a couple of years ago, but didn't like it but will try again. ) Since I couldn't find it in a cookbook, isn't that always the way it goes?, I searched the internet and found several, all using the same ingredients in different amounts.  I decided to make one using milk.  This took over 2 hours to make so be very patient.  Put it on the burner while you are cleaning, doing laundry, making supper and stop by every 10 minutes or so to give a stir.  (I'm thinking the crock pot will be great for this.)  I'll make this again using powdered milk later, which is a lot faster.  So, here ya go.  I haven't used it in a recipe yet but I know you it will be amazing just by the taste.  I've been licking a spoon all the time.  Think I will put some in my coffee...mmmmmm.

Note:  Try using different milks and sweeteners.  Comment and let me know how it turns out.  ~smile~

Vanilla Cherry Pie Bars

I found out that cake and pie filling make a wonderful fast dessert!  Numerous recipes have been around for a gazillion years doing this.  Where have I been?  I'm just glad I finally decided to make this!  Get that box of cake mix out along with the can of pie filling and make these yummy pie bars.   I've added vanilla chips as an option.  They are good, however, there was too much vanilla for me.  If you love vanilla, then, by all means, add the chips!.  Here is your slice, right out of the oven.  ~smile~

Thursday's Treasures Week 80

Easter is past, Spring Break is over and soon summer will be coming for a nice long, hot visit.  I am looking forward to long hot days spent with my boys.  Waking up early, not because we have to get ready for school but because we want to get started and make every second of each day count.  I can almost feel the heat from the sun, the sand between my toes, bon fires, cook outs, sleeping outside in the tent.......
Are you ready for summer?  I know I am!

These are just some of the wonderful links shared on last week's party.  If you are featured, please grab my "I Was Featured On" button for my blog.

Frozen Oreo Ice Cream Pudding Cake

I know you want this!  I can see it all over your face.  Come on…admit it!  There you go, I knew you would.  ~smile~  I’ve changed an old dessert to a “healthier” version.  Healthier, but by no means healthy.  Big difference so eat sparingly.  Or, eat like a piggy and diet for a month to make up for it.  ~big guilty grin!~  This makes a lot!  It is a huge frozen dessert.  You can make it in smaller pans or even cupcake liners as very cute and easy to handle dessert for the children and adults alike!  Go ahead…make someone people happy!  Enjoy

These are easy to fix even for a school day morning.  I made them this morning for my boys and still have plenty of time to do what I always do.  You know,  the things that were supposed to be done last night that were not for some unknown reason.  Kind of like “the dog ate my homework” kind of thing.  Get up and get moving! It's time to make a special breakfast for you little ones and big ones alike.
